Year 11 English literature students attended the Poetry Live! conference this week. (English - 30/01/2024)

Year 11 English literature students attended the Poetry Live! conference this week. The event included an appearance by the Poet Laureate, Simon Armitage, one of Britain’s best poets. This was a great opportunity to hear Simon read his work from the anthology in person.

Visiting poets responded to student questions and discussed how poems connect to and influence other poems. In the examiner sessions, highly experienced Chief Examiners covered two skills vital for success in the GCSE English Literature examinations- the unseen poem, and poetry comparison.

The sessions was invaluable to students’ thinking and will have a positive impact on their outcomes this summer.
