English Creative Writing Competition

Enter the KHCA Summer Writing Competition for the chance to have your writing published in a school anthology and receive your own personal copy!

Write a short story (750 – 1500 words) or a poem addressing the theme of ‘Hope’. Participants can interpret the theme as they wish as we love to encourage creativity and originality! From hoping to see loved ones again to hoping for change, we encourage and welcome all submissions.

Who can enter?

Any pupil or staff member at Kirk Hallam Community Academy may enter the competition. Only one entry per pupil / staff member. Entries must be your own original piece of work.

How do I enter?

Including your full name and tutor group, please send your submission in the form of a word document to:

Is there a prize?

Yes! Two winners from each year and two staff members will be selected. Each winner will receive a published anthology of the winning pieces!

Another copy will also go to the library for everyone to read and share.

When is the closing date for submissions?

The closing date for submissions is Monday 27th July 2020.

When will winners be announced?

Winners will be contacted by email in August with prizes given out in assembly when school returns in September 2020.
