A-Level Results Day 2019
Students at Kirk Hallam Community Academy’s sixth form were today celebrating an excellent set of A-Level results, with 95% of students achieving A*–E grades.
Ben Pidgeon was the academy’s highest achiever this year, securing two A*s in Maths and Further Maths, and one A grade in Physics.
Ben said:
“I’m on Cloud 9! I would like to thank all the sixth form staff for helping me achieve these results.”
Dr Bennison, Head of Sixth Form and Ben’s teacher, said:
“Ben has combined his natural flair for mathematics with a lot of work to ensure he has achieved at the highest level. I know he will be a successful student of mathematics at one of the best universities in the country.”
Ben will now be moving on to study a degree in Mathematics at the University of Warwick.
Other notable students were Jake Gaskin and Brooke Cannon, who both achieved three A grades. Both Jake and Brooke will also be attending their chosen universities of Loughborough and Birmingham respectively—Jake to study Physics and Brooke to study Medicine.
Jake said:
“I am very pleased with my results, as are my friends and we all have the grades required to enter our chose universities. Result! On behalf of us all I would like to thank all of the staff at the Sixth Form for their support over the past two years. They’re the best!”
Brooke added:
“I just want to say a huge thank you to my Kirk Hallam Sixth Form teachers for their help and support through this tough time. I’m now able to fulfil my dream of studying medicine at Birmingham University and I’m on the start of my journey to become a doctor.”
Mark Watts, Head of School, commented:
“We are delighted with our A-Level results at Kirk Hallam this year. Our students have worked really hard to secure much stronger results, and we have seen a significant increase in those students securing the higher grades. I would like to extend my congratulations to all of our students, and my thanks to all of the parents and staff for their support and encouragement.”
