Mr Lloyd-Jones 'Braves the Shave'
Kirk Hallam Community Academy was ‘buzzing’ on the afternoon of Friday 22nd March, as Mr Lloyd-Jones, Deputy Headteacher, braved the clippers and shaved his head in a special assembly for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Over 260 students at the academy donated 50p to watch the event, and staff, governors, friends and family have contributed to the fundraising which now stands at over £1300.
Mr Lloyd-Jones said ‘Age is unfortunately catching up with me and my hair has been getting thinner over time. I’ve debated shaving it off… but I’ve not been brave enough. Yet too many people suffering with cancer are going through invasive treatments and don’t get the choice afforded to me. So, I wanted to be brave and I raise as much money as possible for the amazing work that Macmillan do everyday for countless people up and down the country.’
The campaign is still running and you can support Macmillian at Mr Lloyd-Jones online fundraising page.
